The new GayEgypt.com will be a blog. I thought it very important that with the Chief Prosecutor ordering the arrest of five activists yesterday that this website should be reestablished. This blog is only one small voice among many that are opposing how the
Muslim Brotherhood is trying to monopolize power and trample on people’s public and personal rights. I am very sorry that for several months the website was offline. I am the only person responsible for this blog (this has also been the case for the website the last few years) and sadly I am now writing from outside the country – Last year I spent a short but uncomfortable period in an Egyptian prison and it’s not possible for me to return. And just in case there are those who might suspect or suggest otherwise, this website has always and will continue to espouse only peaceful non-violent protest.

Tunisia’s government backed newspaper Al Fajr accuses Nawal El Sadawi of promoting “homosexuality and prostitution.” It was published just days after she was welcomed by top officials including the Prime Minister, Moncef Marzouki.
